GUIDELINES FOR MANAGEMENT OF GREEN HOUSE GASES (GHG)
AND FUGITIVE EMISSIONS FROM MIDSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM
PETROLEUM OPERATIONS IN NIGERIA
e. GHG Intensity (Emission Intensity):
GHG Intensity for
a company is the sum of Midstream and/or Downstream petroleum
preproduction and production GHG emissions during that year (in units of Kilogram
(Kg)
of carbon
dioxide
equivalents
(COze)),
divided
by
the
company’s
total
production for that year in units of Barrels of oil equivalent (BOE).
It is calculated as:
GHG Intensity (Kg COze/BOE)=
Total annual GHG emissions (Kg CO2e/year)
Total annual Production (BOE/year)
Where: Total Annual GHG Emissions is the Total GHG emissions in Kg COze for the year
BOE = Barrel of Oil Equivalent,

Verification of Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) Camera
i.
Verification
shall
be performed
by either the licensee
or permit-holder,
manufacturer, or a third-party accredited by the Authority.
ii.
Initial verification shall entail confirmation that the camera has the potential
of imaging
gases
in
the
spectral
range
for
the
highest concentration
compound in the potential fugitive emissions and
ii.
The OGI camera shall have the potential
of imaging
a gas that
is half
methane, half propane at a concentration of less than or equal t010,000
ppm at a flow rate greater than or equal to 60g/hr from a quarter inch
diameter orifice.
